Great Class for Beginners

Class is taught by Sol Duran

Sol is a soulful and earthy artist whosename is loyal to her work.  She sheds light on the different perspective of a modern and passionate woman through her dance. Fluent in Egyptian Raqs Sharqi and Baladi, her sensual hip movements are the intoxicating effect of blissfulness. In every performance, Sol illuminates the stage with her strength, humility and love for the dance.

Born and raised in Miami, FL she is the daughter of a beautiful Latin combination. Her mother is from Cartagena, Colombia and her father is from Isabella,Puerto Rico.  Married and a mother to a beautiful daughter, Sol decided to start dancing while completing her Bachelorof Business Administration with a Major in Management of Information Systems at Florida International University.

Sol started dancing Flamenco in 2000 atIrene Rimer Dance Academy; a year later started Belly dancing and has notlooked back since.  She performed atJoharah’s Fall Hafla 2002 and in an Irene Rimer theater production in 2003 as amember of the Irene Rimer Belly Dance Jewels. In 2003 she continued her studies with Maria Jammal, Tamalyn Dallal andBozenka.  She became a member of MariaJammal’s troupe and performed in Maria Jammal’s theater production in 2004.  In 2008, she performed in “Desert Silence” atheater production produced and directed by Marilyn and Bozenka’s BellydanceAcademy. 

In 2009, Sol auditioned for International Bellydance Superstar Bozenka and became a member of Bozenka’s Bellydance Academy Performing Company.  The Company performed in the 2010 theater production “Eygpt India” produced and directed by Marilyn.  In 2012, she performed in several cultural events as a member of M.E.C.A. (Middle Eastern and Central Asian) Dance Ensemble directed by Roshana Nofret. 

Sol is a student at heart and continues to work with other talented local dancers as well as continuing her training with many world renowned dancers including Raqia Hassan, Yousry Sharif, Tito, Karim Nagi,Ranya Renee, Ahmed Hussien, Jihan Jammal, Virginia, Samay and Hanan among others.

Sol’s goal is to inspire.  Inspire people to move beyond their limitations and express themselves freely and creatively. She believes that we are all an open channel for creative ideas, and that we are always the perfect age for where we are in life.
